Hospice care
We work with your hospice agency so the person you love can stay in the room they know, with the people who have been caring for them all along.
How it works
When someone starts hospice, the agency you choose sends nurses, aides, a social worker and a chaplain to wherever that person lives. Here, that is the house.
Our caregivers keep doing everything they were already doing: personal care, meals, medications, company. The hospice team adds to that, managing comfort and symptoms and bringing whatever equipment is needed. The two teams talk to each other directly, so you are not stuck in the middle passing messages back and forth.
What stays the same
For someone near the end of life, familiar surroundings are a real comfort. A move at this stage is hard on anyone, and harder the frailer someone is. Staying put is very often the kindest option there is.
For families
By the time hospice starts, many families have spent months as schedulers, nurses and advocates. One of the quieter benefits of this arrangement is that it hands those jobs back to the professionals.
You get to sit with them and hold their hand instead of managing their care. That is worth a great deal, and it is hard to arrange at home.
Alongside hospice
Hospice is one of several outside teams that visit residents here. Palliative care often comes years earlier and is the one families have usually never heard of. There is also a house-call physician, home health therapists, mobile dental and podiatry, labs and x-ray, a visiting stylist, and clergy.
